Thousands of migrants nearly 50,000 people have illegally entered in Greece in the first six months of 2015, mostly from Afghanistan and Syria. Afghans took a public space for a living in as an unofficial camp in the Pedion Areos park in Athens as Greek authorities have failed to formulate a coherent policy on how to handle a massive wave of displaced from the most recent conflicts in the middle east.
Non-governmental charities, and civilians as well try to help, providing food and clothing. In other hand, most of the Syrian migrants arrive to Athens and spend their times in hostels until they find the way to leave. The most of this migrants risk their lifes crossing the sea from Turkey in dangerous, overcrowded boats. This is Hella’s Door, the first step in their way to continue north through the Balkans to more affluent European countries such as Germany or Sweden.
